“Work is expected to commence next month with the new site and completion date set for late 2018.”
The construction company is based in Newcastle and has a turnover of about $2.5 million a year.
The demolition of the house for building work is the latest blow to the company, which has been struggling to recoup its costs in the state since the government gave it the power to buy the property at the end of the 2016/17 financial year.
A local resident, who asked not to be named, said she heard a loud bang in the night and looked out of her window and saw the house being demolished.
“The next thing I knew there was a big boom and I saw the whole place collapse,” she said.
“There is a lot of fear that it could happen again,” Senator Nick Xenophon, a member of the state’s parliamentary council, said. “
My neighbour came running out and said, ‘What happened?’.” The demolition sparked widespread concern, with residents and local politicians calling for the state to ban the company from using eminent domain to clear land.

Senator Xenophon said the State Government should immediately suspend all permits for the Taylor Construction construction.
“Taylor has been the recipient of several major grants for construction in NSW,” he said.
The government said the Taylor Development is owned by the NSW government and that it has “full confidence” in the company’s ability to proceed. “
