Construction company Choate has paid the ultimate homage to the man who invented the sign that still adorns one of its main roads.
The company paid tribute to builder, builder, the man, and their “inspiration for what we do today”.
The man and his sons are now building a new road that will take them from their hometown to a new home in Australia.
Choate will build the road from the remote town of Choate, in the north-east of the state, to a newly constructed townhouse in Canberra, Canberra’s capital.
“It was always a dream of ours to build a road to Canberra,” said Simon Choate.
“We have all the experience in building roads and highways and that is the reason why we decided to go to Canberra.”

The other will run between the Canberra Airport and the Canberra city limits.
Simon said he wanted the road to be “a modern, clean road”.
“We want to have a good relationship with Canberra,” he said.
In a recent interview, Simon said he had hoped to have the new road completed by 2019.
But the project was delayed by the government’s “road building rules” imposed after the bushfires in the Northern Territory.
Choate said he was disappointed by the delay.
It is a decision that will have a profound impact on the future of Choates future road, he said, adding that the state’s “environment is more important than our roads”.
“There are some roads that are going to be built here and they are going be built by our company,” he added.
With the new roads, Choate will have two routes.
One will take the family along the old road that was closed to the public for almost a year.
Another route will be a modern and clean alternative to the old one.
Simon Choated said he hoped the road would become a “classic road” that people would come to enjoy and not just a “modern road”.
“This road is really going to represent the best of Canberra,” Mr Choate said.
The new roads is just one of many construction projects being undertaken by Choate across the Northern Territories, and Simon Choated has been in discussions with the NT Government to help it complete the project.
He said that it was “quite amazing” that the NT government would be so interested in Choates future road.
Mr Choate is currently working on the construction of a road in the far north of the NT, but the company is working to get the new one completed in 2018.
“We are quite optimistic that the road will come in 2018,” he told 7.30.
“That’s where we are at right now.”
Hopefully we will have it finished before Christmas.
“The new Road is the latest in a string of road projects undertaken by the Choate family, which include the construction and maintenance of the Choates new house in Canberra.
Simon and Tom are now living in Canberra and working on other projects, but Simon said they would continue to stay in Canberra to continue their work on the road.”
My job here is not to be in Canberra or anywhere else, I am here to help the community in Canberra,” Simon Choates said.”
That’s all I care about.
“”I am very proud of what we have achieved.
We are doing what we thought we could do.
We’ve achieved something quite remarkable.
